Rick was born into a loving home, but by the age of 15 he was already caught up in a world of drugs and crime. This led to numerous brushes with death from overdoses and gang violence. By the age of 21 he was one of Canada’s “Most Wanted” and was sentenced to 12 years Federal time for a series of armed robberies.

While incarcerated his addiction worsened and after 3 years he escaped and committed more violent robberies. His sentence was increased to almost 30 years. He was released on “good behavior” in 1993, but within 8 weeks was arrested while in possession of a handgun and cocaine.

Confined to a maximum-security cell in Millhaven, Rick gave up and prepared a fatal dose of heroin. But moments before injecting it, he changed his mind.

Rick will share his story with us: how it started, and how he turned it around.  He will talk about gangs and drugs, and his 23 years in prison, and he will share with us that there is hope for our kids whose lives have taken the same dangerous turn.

Parents and their teen/young adults are welcome!
Seating is limited – first come, first served.
